Pasni Weaning Ceremony ~ Vermont Documentary Family Photography

In Nepal, one of life's earliest rights of passage, the transition from liquid to solid food is marked by a traditional ceremony called Pasni. For girls, when they reach five months old, the family gathers with their closest relatives and celebrate as she is fed her first bite of rice. I was honored to be invited to document this traditional ceremony and witness such a beautiful event full of love, joy and respect for an ancient tradition.
